As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowMichigan-based manufacturing giant Masco Corp., plans to close its printing division in Indianapolis, putting 67 people out of work, the company said Monday in a notice to the state.
Masco Support Services, which operates from a 125,000-square-foot warehouse at 300 S. Carroll Road on the city’s far-east side, will begin phasing out operations on April 8 and finish by July 29, it said in a letter to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The notice did not give a reason for the closure, which the company said was permanent.
The division, which was started in 1965, provides printing and fulfillment services for Masco-owned companies and other clients.
Masco Corp. is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of brand-name products for the home-improvement and new-home construction markets, with more than 35,000 employees and about 90 manufacturing facilities worldwide.
The company had more than $2 billion in sales in its latest quarter, but has been has been in a cost-cutting mode due to the poor home-construction market.
Masco also owns Carmel-based Delta Faucet Co.
