Blue Pillar Inc. selected Thomas Willie III to take over as its CEO following the departure of Kevin Kushman. Willie started the new job Nov. 4.

Kushman will remain on Blue Pillar’s board and work for the company as a strategic adviser.

Blue Pillar, founded in 2006, develops software that manages electrical grids.

In a prepared statement, Kushman lauded Willie’s ability to grow companies in “a rapidly evolving landscape.”

Willie previously served as CEO of Current Group, a power grid technology firm based in Maryland that was acquired earlier this year. He was Current’s chief product officer and chief operating officer for eight years before becoming CEO in 2011.

He has also had management roles for Efficient Networks, Texas Instruments and National Semi Conductor.

An Indianapolis native, Willie graduated from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering.•
