Misencik, who primarily appeared on WTHR’s morning and noon newscasts, worked her last day Wednesday, a WTHR official confirmed.
In addition to forecasting the weather, Misencik also occasionally handled traffic reports and feature stories including sports features for WTHR.
“I am thankful for all the memories I have, and I thank you for allowing me into your homes to be a part of your day,” Misencik said on Facebook on Thursday. “The time has come for us to be closer to our family, so that’s the plan.”
Misencik, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, joined WTHR in August, 2007 as part of the weekend newscast. She came to WTHR from WWMT, the CBS affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she was a morning reporter and weather anchor.
Misencik got her start at KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she was a producer, reporter, anchor and weather forecaster.
She graduated magna cum laude from Northern Arizona University in 2003 and earned a degree in meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2009.
“Thank you doesn’t quite cover my gratitude of what Indiana has given me,” Misencik said on Facebook. “But, what else can I say other than thank you for making me feel at home.”
WTHR General Manager Larry Delia and Misencik could not be reached for comment.
