A T-shirt retailer specializing in screen printing is considering Indianapolis as the home for a new production facility that could create 105 jobs over the next four years.

Little Raymond’s Print Shop Inc., a subsidiary of California-based online retailer ooShirts Inc., has requested a tax abatement from city-county officials on $975,000 in new manufacturing equipment needed for the leased facility, which would be located at 7800 Records St.

The project would create 105 jobs over four years, with an average hourly wage of $12, according to the abatement request. The equipment for the 26,400-square-foot facility would include automatic and manual presses for screen printing and gas and electric dryers.

It was not immediately clear whether the firm’s plans were contingent on receiving the abatement. Officials did not respond to an email from IBJ Friday morning. The Metropolitan Development Commission will consider preliminary approval of the request at its Wednesday meeting.

Over the proposed three-year abatement, Little Raymond’s Print Shop would save about $25,000, while still paying $13,000 in property taxes. After the abatement, the firm would pay an estimated $8,800 per year in property taxes.

Little Raymond’s Print Shop conducts direct-to-garment and screen printing of garments to fulfill orders made through the ooShirts and shirts.io websites, according to its abatement request. The company already has production facilities in California and Pennsylvania.

ooShirts was founded in 2006 by teenager Raymond Lei, who was looking for a cheaper way to procure shirts for his high school tennis club, according to the firm’s website. In 2010, the firm posted revenue of $2.2 million.

Due to rapid and sustained growth, the firm will need to invest in the equipment for its new production facility by the end of 2013, according to the abatement request.
