The jobs are part of a plan Lowe’s announced Wednesday to hire 1,700 customer-support employees in total by October at offices in Wilkesboro, North Carolina; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Indianapolis.
The new jobs will be central production office roles, including service and production coordinators, field project specialists, supervisors and managers.
Lowe’s opened a central-production office in July out of its Indianapolis customer support center to provide customers with at-home installation services.
Lowe’s said job candidates should have “a broad knowledge of remodeling, project management and construction practices, as well as strong interpersonal skills.”
The retailer's latest hiring initiative comes a month after it said it was cutting 2,400 full-time jobs nationwide as part of a major staffing overhaul.
Lowe's was founded in North Wilkesboro as a single hardware store in 1946. It moved its headquarters about 60 miles south to Mooresville in 2003.
The company operates more than 2,300 home-improvement or hardware stores in the United States, Canada and Mexico, including more than 40 in Indiana.
