As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowVerizon, which rolled out 5G home internet service in parts of Indianapolis in October, is now offering 5G mobile service in the market.
The company said its 5G Ultra Wideband service was activated Wednesday.
Verizon said the service is concentrated in parts of the following neighborhoods: Arsenal Heights, Bates Hendricks, Castleton, Crown Hill, Fountain Square, Grace Tuxedo Park, Hawthorne, Historic Meridian Park, Lockerbie Square, Ransom Place, Renaissance Place, St. Joseph Historical Neighborhood, Upper Canal and Woodruff Place, and around landmarks such as Garfield Park and the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Indianapolis was one of the first four U.S. cities to get 5G service from Verizon in October.
AT&T was the first company to offer mobile 5G service in Indianapolis. The company began offering 5G mobile to portions of 12 U.S. cities in December.
5G is the fifth generation of wireless technology. It offers much quicker speeds and better network reliability than previous generations.
