flood.
Morgan County Plan Commission Director Kenny Hale said the county southwest of Indianapolis will use the
money to buy more than 20 buildings. The county will provide $1 million in matching funds through a state Community Development
Block Grant.
The new grant complements a $3 million FEMA grant that Martinsville received earlier this year to
buy flood-damaged homes in the city.
After the properties are acquired, the homes will be demolished. No buildings
may be constructed on the sites.
Martinsville closed its first purchase on Friday. Mayor Phil Deckard said he hoped
eight more would be completed this year, leaving 24 deals to be completed next year.
