The Indiana Senate approved the bill on a 41-9 vote on Thursday.
The bill by Republican Sen. Ron Alting
of Lafayette and Democratic Sen. Vi Simpson of Bloomington would limit the amount of Sunday carryout sales from microbreweries
to about three cases per transaction. Microbreweries have limits on how much beer they can make each year. There are 32 of
them in the state.
Supporters of Alting’s bill note that farm wineries in Indiana are allowed to sell their products
for takeout on Sundays and say microbreweries should have the same privilege.
