As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowThe Shepherd Community Center is helping a handful of not-for-profits by absorbing them (see story, page 3), but you don’t
have to take over a not-for-profit to give it a hand up. All you need do is scan our Holiday Wish List on page 34 to see if
you have what local not-for-profits want this holiday season.
Now in its 22nd year, the Holiday Wish List matches deserving organizations with used copy machines, office furniture and
all manner of goods and services that might otherwise go to waste. We’ll publish the list weekly through Dec. 22, and if history
repeats itself, the list will get longer every week.
The conventional wisdom is that not-for-profits are more in need this year than at any time in recent memory because negative
economic news is cutting into donations. We hope our readers continue to demonstrate their generosity in a variety of ways.
But if you or your business is cutting back on cash donations, the Wish List is your opportunity to support a good cause without
any out-of-pocket expense.
In good times or bad, giving to a not-for-profit what your business might otherwise discard is the right thing to do.
Take a look at the list on page 34 to find out how you can make a difference.
