Middlebury-based Jayco Inc. said Wednesday that it expected to resume production in May at its Topeka factory and hire 50
workers there this year. The company says it will move production of its Starcraft travel trailers to the Topeka plant from
its Middlebury complex.
Starcraft general manager Jim Jacobs said the move comes as the company's business has started to recover from the national
recession. Jayco announced in November it had recalled or hired more than 200 workers as orders increased.
Jayco is among several RV companies that laid off thousands of workers from northern Indiana plants since early 2008.
