The east-side company is seeking a property-tax abatement to help offset the cost of new equipment for the expansion. The Metropolitan Development Commission will consider the incentive at its Wednesday meeting. Staff members already have recommended a five-year tax abatement on the company’s $1.3 million investment.
In exchange, Just Packaging said it will create 35 jobs paying an average of $19.10 an hour, according to city documents.
The company, 3131 N. Franklin Road, should save $44,631 in property taxes during the abatement period.
Just Packaging manufactures and distributes corrugated, chipboard and polystyrene packaging to customers in the Midwest. Growth in Indiana and Ohio is prompting the company to purchase the new equipment and expand into a 60,000-square-foot building.
