New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was set to make the announcement at a morning news conference.
Goldsmith, 64, was Indianapolis' mayor from 1992 to 2000. He will replace Ed Skyler, 36, who is leaving the post to join
Citigroup as executive vice president of global public affairs.
