Indianapolis-based Allison Transmission Inc. has extended a partnership with Daimler Trucks North America in which it will
continue to supply transmissions to the company.
Terms of the multi-year deal, which Allison announced Tuesday, were not disclosed.
The agreement calls for Allison transmissions to be installed in all Portland, Ore.-based Daimler product lines, including
Freightliner, Thomas Built Buses and Western Star.
“This partnership will allow Daimler Trucks North America to take advantage of the full complement of Allison’s
productivity, efficiency and performance benefits developed during years of experience in medium and heavy-duty vocational
markets,” Jim Wanaselja, Allison’s vice president of North American marketing, sales and service, said in a prepared
statement.
Founded in 1915, Allison employs about 2,900 people at its plant in Speedway. The former General Motors Corp. unit—purchased
in 2007 by private equity firms Onex of Toronto and Carlyle Group of Washington—makes transmissions for commercial trucks
and buses, plus military vehicles.
