Engineers at Rolls-Royce Corp.’s Indianapolis manufacturing facility will work for the next year to design, develop
and test an upgrade for a digital engine control the company is making for the U.S. Army’s OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopter.
The Department of Defense announced the $7.5 million contract Monday. Work is expected to be complete by May 28, 2011.
In February, the British aerospace firm won another multimillion-dollar deal to design and make the engine control,
and in April was awarded a $51 million contract to provide engines for a U.S. Marine Corps’ tanker aircraft.
Rolls-Royce, which employs about 4,300 in Indianapolis, was awarded another $180 million in U.S. military contracts late
last year, including a $160.6 million project making engines for the Air Force
