Officials of a central Indiana city say they are close to a deal for a furniture company to start production in a former
auto parts factory.
The Gas City council has approved granting up to $2.5 million in economic revenue bonds for Echelon Furniture Inc. to locate
in a plant that Amcast Automotive shut down in 2006.
Mayor Larry Leach says the company plans to be producing furniture from the factory by October and have 100 full-time workers
before year's end.
Leach said he and other officials began talking with the company in January about starting operations in the Grant County
city midway between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis.
He says the company is still working out details with the factory's owner.
