The Indiana Attorney General’s office filed a lawsuit Tuesday against David Caswell, the owner of Indianapolis-based
New Century Publishing, for accepting payment without providing publishing services.

The Attorney General’s office said 16 authors paid New Century thousands of dollars for services, including publishing
promotion, website design and hosting, book-signing events and printing costs but didn't receive those services.

IBJ reported July 30 that several
authors claimed New Century had not followed through with promised services and failed to provide refunds.

“Our investigation into the consumer complaints indicates that [Caswell] intentionally misled consumers,” Attorney
General Greg Zoeller said in a written statement. “He also has a history of deceptive practices which make this action
necessary.”

A voicemail left at New Century’s office Tuesday afternoon was not immediately returned.

The investigation into Caswell’s business practices is ongoing, and the Attorney General’s office encourages
others who may have been affected by Caswell or New Century to file a complaint with the consumer protection division, Zoeller
said.

Complaints can be filed online at www.IndianaConsumer.com, or by calling 1-800-382-5516.
