Holcomb, 42, has been deputy chief of staff in the governor's office and was manager of Daniels' re-election campaign in 2008.
Party spokesman Justin Garrett says no other candidates met Friday's deadline to contest Holcomb for the position.
Holcomb will replace Murray Clark, who announced Dec. 15 he was stepping down effective at the end of December after nearly five years in the position.
A graduate of Hanover College, Holcomb served in the U.S. Navy and managed campaigns for former U.S. Rep. John Hostettler and former Vincennes Mayor Terry Mooney.
