Seems like a waste of money. INDOT is clearly going to do what it wants to do. Im not sure I can blame them, either.
The Indiana Department oF Transportation’s job is to build roads. All they can see is how to move traffic. That is a great approach in moving traffic from city to city, but cities are places where people live. What was needed was an economic development approach because the urban core of Indianapolis is not just about cars. It has taken almost 50 years for the urban core to start to bounce back from the damage caused by initial construction of the Interstate. Maybe with the support from Lilly, this project will get the look it deserved from the beginning, and not just from a traffic engineer’s point of view, but from an economic development point of view that works for the whole city,
Downtown Indianapolis is more than the trucks and cars passing through.
Hooray for Indianapolis. Thank You Lilly Endowment.
Could not agree more, well said!
Cheers to that!
[standing ovation]
Yes! Couldn’t agree more.
INDOT counts # of cars moved, when we should be measuring how many people we can move with our transportation system. Say no to a being a drive-thru-city in a fly-over-State. Indy is better than that, and deserves more.
Very well said!
I can’t agree with you more @walter ! this is great for the city
