The steel fabrication company Lippert Components of Marvin, N.C., has asked the Elkhart City Council for tax incentives if it moves into a factory formerly owned by the now-defunct Monaco Coach Corp.
The Elkhart Truth reported that Lippert makes chassis, chassis parts and galvanized steel roofing for the manufactured housing and RV industries. It now has more than 1,800 workers at its other Elkhart County facilities.
Lippert has told city officials it plans to invest nearly $9 million in the new facility. The company's three largest customers are all manufacturers located in Elkhart County.
