The Family and Social Services Administration said last week the new openings have been created by people leaving the program. Federal regulations limit the number of adults without dependent children that the program can enroll.
Enrollees must earn no more than twice the federal poverty level to be eligible. That's $21,780 for a single-person household. They also must have gone without health insurance for six months and have no access to employer-sponsored coverage.
FSSA says the Healthy Indiana Plan currently enrolls more than 42,000 people between the ages of 19 and 64. Participants pay 2 percent to 5 percent of their gross family income.
