One thought on “Secretary of state holds firm to absentee-ballot deadline, says county should have geared up faster

  1. Every other state that I know of requires a mailed-in ballot be postmarked by the date of the election to be counted. Why is it that Indiana law requires the ballot to be “received” at the elections office by noon on election day? What happens if the mail gets delivered to that office by 12:15 that day? Does a traffic jam outside the City-County building that delays delivery by16 minutes invalidate the votes of thousand of voters? For what purpose? Indiana needs to quit being the nation’s strange outlier. The state law needs to be revised to bring it into line with common sense and every other state in the country.
