Next Wave Systems LLC, a contract engineering and technology firm, announced on Friday morning that it plans to add 60 jobs in Bloomington by 2014 as part of a $330,000 expansion.

Based in New Pekin in southern Indiana, the company said the investment will go toward making facility and software improvements at its Bloomington facility. Next Wave’s mapping, imagery and command-and-control software is used by the Department of Defense, including its operations at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane.

Next Wave, which now has about 30 workers in Indiana, will begin hiring engineering employees by the end of the year.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it will provide Next Wave up to $500,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $6,650 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans.
