Providing efficiencies: GadellNet provides IT services for small and midsize businesses, including a 24/7 help desk for more than 150 businesses in Indiana. CEO Nick Smarrelli said that, as his company grows, it has been working more with businesses that are looking beyond fixing their infrastructure to figuring out how to maximize employee productivity and efficiency.
As an example: One GadellNet client wanted to centralize all communication, file sharing and project management into a single place that can be accessed anywhere. GadellNet helped set up a cloud infrastructure so the customer no longer had servers on its premises. “We’re seeing a lot of building-flexible, nimble workforces through technology,” he said.
Happy clients: GadellNet’s growth is built on customer referrals, Smarrelli said. Last year, the company had 99% employee and client retention. “The good work that the team is doing is paying dividends,” he said. In addition, GadellNet’s customers are continuing to grow and invest. “The more they grow and invest, the more we see an opportunity.”
Plans: GadellNet plans an acquisition or two this year, Smarrelli said. The company looks to buy businesses that either complement or add breadth of services to what it does. It has a new office in Carmel that can fit double the number of people the company has now, and “we’re going to look to fill that office.”
Growth and karma: Smarrelli said GadellNet has applied to become a B corporation, a designation certifying that the company uses business as a force for good. B corporations work toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose. “That goes back to our whole strategy: giving back to the community, taking care of our employees, continuing to grow,” he said.•
