With some creative thinking a use should be found for the existing infrastructure. The lost parking turned out to be red herring.
I’d love to buy one of the blue indy cars -any word on what’s going to happen with them?
They were all stacked in a junkyard. So they’re gone.
Actually they were not all stacked in a junkyard. About 30-40 with damage were sent to a junkyard after any useful batteries and powertrains were taken out to be repurposed. The rest of the cars were sent to Los Angeles for us in the program there.
Good. We have a very rare option to control what is happening on our curb space. Cities around the world are making community spaces out of parking – spaces that bring more value to their neighborhoods than parking. Returning these to free parking when there isn’t even a shortage of parking is the laziest strategy that the City could possibly deploy.
The city should wait, BlueIndy will probably just abandon the charging stations as it would probably costs them more to remove them now than they are worth so the city might just be able to get them thru abandonment. They junked a lot of the cars already.
I agree with Rhea, the previous comments. Considering technology moving faster than wind, evolution will probably introduce more efficient equipment.
Plus, many of the stations are in a place that ownership of this type of vehicle may lag. Thus, they will rot.
Maybe,if it works, use the power in some neighborhoods for lighting.
