Louis Vuitton Americas confirmed that the company plans to open a freestanding store in the city in 2020. The company declined to provide additional details.
The former Burberry store at the Fashion Mall at Keystone now has temporary signage indicating that Louis Vuitton is coming to that space, a source told IBJ.
Simon Property Group, which operates the Fashion Mall, did not respond to an email seeking comment.
The Saks department store at the Fashion Mall includes a Louis Vuitton “store within a store,” but Louis Vuitton declined to say what would happen to that space once its freestanding store opens.
Louis Vuitton founded his namesake company in France in 1854, originally producing luggage and travel trunks. The company’s signature brown-on-brown monogram-and flower design, developed in 1896, is still featured on the company’s products today.
The brand topped Kantar Millward Brown’s 2019 BrandZ list of the world’s most valuable luxury brands, with a value of $47.2 billion, topping Chanel, Hermes, Gucci, Rolex and others. It was also ranked as the 22nd most valuable brand overall, just below Nike.
The company has more than 450 stores in about 50 countries. The stores carry monogrammed leather goods, watches, accessories, shoes, bags, purses and clothes.
