The announcement that Community Health Network had a $40 million loss and is laying off employees is yet another reason to cancel the plan of IndyParks to put their clinic in Broad Ripple Park. The deal—which costs the city $79,000 a month—would be in exchange for getting a “free” new Family Center.

CHN cannot afford this project. Medicine is moving to telemedicine instead of in- person visits. They already have a clinic on Broad Ripple Avenue and there are plenty of vacant non-park sites if they need a new location.

IndyParks does not need a new Family Center or Fitness Center. The nearby LA Fitness is not busy as folks shun gyms due to the pandemic.

Mayor Hogsett should order this flawed proposal on indefinite hold due to developments since the pandemic struck.

Neither the city nor Community Health Networks can afford it. And local residents do not want it.

The nearby Jordan Y, LA Fitness, and Riviera Club have more than sufficient capacity for the few that are still patronizing fitness centers.
