Another economic development official has left the administration of Gov. Mitch Daniels as the Republican prepares to start his second term.

Bruce Kidd, director of small business and entrepreneurship at the Indiana Economic Development Corp., said yesterday that he has taken a post as senior vice president at Walker Information, the Indianapolis company that helps companies better understand their customers.

Commerce Secretary Nate Feltman, who led IEDC, left at the end of the year to take a position at Indianapolis law firm Baker & Daniels. Feltman is being replaced by Family and Social Services Administration chief Mitch Roob.

News of Kidd’s resignation was announced in an e-mail to business associates. It was not immediately clear how Roob will handle the position.

Kidd joined IEDC three years ago, after the private not-for-profit was created to replace the former Indiana Department of Commerce.

Prior to moving to IEDC, Kidd was vice president of the Indiana Venture Center Inc., an Indianapolis not-for-profit that linked startups with seed funding.

Earlier this year, Kidd spearheaded creation of a Web portal where startup companies could be matched with in-state vendors. The portal, called INBiz-Café, was launched to help all businesses, but particularly life science businesses because companies in the sector creating innovations often have the most difficulty finding matches.
