More than 1,000 people gathered on Veterans Memorial Plaza downtown Saturday to take part in Occupy Indianapolis, inspired by the three-week-old Occupy Wall Street protest in New York.
Most carried signs with sayings like "Stop the war on workers" and "Stop corporate greed."
Fifty-two-year-old Mark Gilbert of Fishers says he joined the protest out of frustration with the economy. Others say they're fed up because the government listens more to corporations than it does voters.
Most of the protesters joined the march rather than break up into discussion groups as organizers invited them to do.
