Comedian Lewis Black has been named to the honorary board of directors for the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library in Indianapolis.

The five-room facility honoring the Indianapolis native will be part library, part museum and part reading room. The library honoring the author of "Slaughterhouse-Five," ''Cat's Cradle," and "Hocus Pocus" is tentatively scheduled to open in January.

Black is famous for being angry, and he says Vonnegut helped shape the way he looks at the world. Black says one of the few reasons he thinks he is vaguely sane is because Vonnegut made him realize he wasn't crazy.

Black plans to contribute to the Vonnegut Library through a fundraising performance and visits.

Others on the honorary board include journalists Morley Safer and Linda Ellerbee and author Sidney Offit.
