Potential perceived partisanship is the weight on my shoulders which cannot be removed. I wonder if my Republican, pro-McCarthy grandmother thought my Republican mother was a Democrat partisan when my mother argued that Sen. Joseph McCarthy was a fraud—while The Chicago Tribune supported him unashamedly, and millions of Americans thought the State Department and Hollywood were controlled by Communists.
Today, we have “the deep state,” “planeloads of thugs” heading here and there to disrupt civil life, massive fraudulent attempts to sway the election, including “millions of absentee ballots sent to dogs and persons deceased,” “Democrats both promoting rolling blackouts in California and encouraging violence everywhere,” and a Democrat candidate “on drugs.” While these come from the mouth of Mr. Trump, they could have come from another mouth earlier, that of Sen. McCarthy.
May I make a prediction, knowing well that many predictions are wrong? The prediction is that Mr. Trump will be proven fraudulent himself by future congressional investigations, as well as by various United States attorneys and state prosecutorial agencies. He will be censored, perhaps even by a bipartisan vote of Congress. When that happens, no one will remember having supported him, and, some will say, “I really did not like him anyway.”
