New cases have exceeded 5,000 in 22 of the past 24 daily case reports
The department also reported 84 new deaths from COVID-19. A total of 505 deaths have been reported over the past seven days, an average of nearly 72 per day.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 fell slightly for the third straight day, from an all-time high Monday of 3,460 to 3,289 on Thursday.
Testing of new individuals rose by 19,811, bringing the cumulative total to 2,272,182.
COVID-19 patients occupy 43.7% of the state’s intensive care beds. The state said 20.5% of its ICU beds are still available.
