WXIN-TV Channel 59 on Thursday said it has hired Miller as an anchor for its morning news team starting in late January.
Miller worked at WISH-TV Channel 8 in Indianapolis as a reporter and weekend evening anchor from 2005 to late 2014 before taking a job at Fox affiliate WFXT-TV in Boston, where he has been anchoring morning news.
“I’m looking forward to coming back home, being around familiar faces in a community I’ve always loved and joining the No. 1 team in Indianapolis,” Miller said in written remarks.
Before working at WISH, Miller was a weekend anchor and reporter at WBBJ-TV in Jackson, Tennessee.
He also previously worked at WRTV-TV Channel 6 in Indianapolis as the weekend assignment editor.
WXIN had a hole to fill in its anchor ranks after the departure of Ray Cortopassi, an anchor at Fox-59 since 2009 and a 21-year broadcasting run in Indianapolis at three different stations.
“Daniel Miller will be an excellent addition to the FOX59 morning team,” said News Director CJ Hoyt in written comments. “His experience in covering major news stories, breaking news, investigations and his knowledge of the Indianapolis market makes him the perfect complement to Angela Ganote and Jim O’Brien. We’re excited to have him on board.”
WXIN-TV and sister station WTTV-TV are owned by Nexstar Media Group.
