  1. Sounds like socialism: taking money paid by relatively well off metropolitan/suburban residents and spreading it around the poorer countryside.

    Which, of course, is perfectly acceptable if you have any degree of concern about those left behind. But I wonder about the mental contortions of those Republicans who are aghast at the Democratic proposals to do the same.
