  1. According to the Governor’s own Commission on teacher pay, out teachers are underpaid by some $600 Million a year. He restores the surplus, but if all of his increase for K-12 went to teacher pay we would remain well behind other states. I wish he cared about our teachers as much as he does about the vaunted surplus.
    Ed DeLaney House District 86

    1. The very surplus that you and your cohorts want to loot every session. Thank goodness for our surplus going into the pandemic and that we’re not left groveling for a pull at the Federal teat.

“Mayors in New Orleans and San Francisco, and governors in states including New York and Illinois, have sounded new alarms about the perils of sustained Washington inaction”
“In Illinois, meanwhile, Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) on Tuesday announced $700 million in early, anticipated budget reductions in an attempt to close a staggering $4 billion deficit projected to hit his state over the next two fiscal years.”
      Washington Post

    1. @John. Well thank goodness people paid taxes for your education. Those kids in school who need good, well paid educators are your future doctors, lawyers, plumbers, electricians etc etc. They will be in your home and treat your bone spurs – better hope someone paid taxes to give them a good education. But not you, right?
