The company, now based at 7601 E. 88th Place on the city’s northeast side, said it has raised more than $1.25 million to support its upcoming product launch. The money came from angel investors and a crowdsourcing campaign that doesn’t close until April 30.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the response” from investors, CEO Dan O’Toole said in written remarks. “We’ll be announcing our new headquarters location along with some other significant advances in the next few months.”
DroneDek holds two U.S. patents for its mailbox, which is designed to accept drone deliveries of any type, including food deliveries that it can keep hot or cold.
Company officials said the Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered the business up to $1.7 million in conditional tax credits based on the job-creation plans.
DroneDek announced in January that it is working with another local startup, Pierce Aerospace, to advance drone delivery.
