Subscribe NowFishers-based Ultimate Technologies Group on Tuesday announced plans to add 25 employees by the end of next year, thanks to a new contract with an Indiana-based engine manufacturer that will place the company’s communication infrastructure in more than 4,000 conference rooms across the globe.
UTG, a commercial audio-visual, automation and information technology systems provider, also said it has moved its headquarters from a 12,000-square-foot space at 535 Carmel Drive in Carmel to a 15,000-square-foot space at 11795 Technology Lane in the Fishers Tech Park, marking a return to the city where it was founded four years ago.
O’Brien launched Ultimate Technologies Group as Ultimate Home Automation out of the Launch Fishers co-working space in early 2017. Less than a year later, the company moved into its own space at the Depot at Nickel Plate, 8594 E. 116th St., in Fishers, and changed its name to Ultimate Automation. The company grew to 29 employees and changed its name once more to Ultimate Technologies Group after acquiring Carmel-based Electronic Evolutions Inc. in October 2018.
Company President Will O’Brien said UTG operated out of those Carmel offices until the lease expired in December, but that wasn’t the only reason he decided to relocate.
“It wasn’t just the lease running out,” he said. “Our intention has always been to come back to Fishers. Fishers has always been really good to us.”
UTG has increased its workforce to 32, and O’Brien has set of goal of reaching 55 employees next year.
O’Brien said UTG is adopting a hybrid workforce model in which some employees return to work and some decide to continue working from home. It’s the same model the company is helping many of its clients implement in their workplaces.
“Ultimate Technologies Group is currently helping companies develop technology plans for the inevitable hybrid workforce that all companies will soon have,” O’Brien said. “Prior to COVID, employers mostly had an office-based workforce. Right now, most of those employees are working remotely.”
Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness said UTG’s story demonstrates the success of a start-up company with roots at Launch Fishers.
“The team that Will has assembled and the growth they will experience over the next several years is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit here in Fishers,” he said.
