It was the fourth consecutive year the newspaper has been in the top three, including winning gold in 2007. This year’s top prize went to Los Angeles Business Journal, and silver went to Crain’s Chicago Business.
In awarding IBJ bronze, judges wrote: "Each issue is so full of information with smart choices on stories that have interesting angles. Design is clean and compelling. There’s a newsier approach to stories without sacrificing presentation."

• Bronze. Best explanatory journalism, J.K. Wall, for "Small towns, big business."
• Bronze. Best use of photography/illustrations, Jo Kelsey Hohlbein, Robin Jerstad, and other IBJ staffers.
