The thing that shocks me constantly is how people who approve a structure’s design underestimate its impact. Even something as mundane as a parking garage can make a first impression to a visitor. There are so many economical cladding systems these days that can add character and personality to any structure.
What makes the Mass Ave corridor so popular? Yes, the nightlife and unique shops, but I contend the unique architecture and quaintness of the buildings. The corner shops clad in brick, the nearby churches built with limestone, the street pavers. We need to adopt a warm, unique, artsy and distinct attitude in the design of all structures.
