Do Indiana Sens. Todd Young and Mike Braun care about the thousands of companies and businesses that rely heavily on Indiana roads, bridges, airports and ports to move their goods across the state, nation and globe [“Sen. Young withdraws support for $1 trillion infrastructure bill,” April 9, IBJ.com]?

Are they aware of the thousands of Hoosiers who travel north, south, east and west to get to work, visit family and broker deals? Are they aware of the huge costs to businesses who rely on the Ohio River’s antiquated lock system to move their grains or industrial products, and the long delays and detours caused by crumbling roads and bridges?

What about the Hoosiers, in rural communities who need access to broadband for business communications and transactions? Do the senators care about the dilapidated septic systems and aging water system across Indiana that need upgrades? What good are opportunity zones if people and products can’t easily get in and out of them?

Perhaps they will take notice when they are in midflight and the pilot announces a cybersecurity attack on the power grid and airport control tower. What will it take for our U.S. senators to put Hoosiers’ interest above party loyalty?•
