Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is scheduled to visit Indianapolis this fall to speak before the Economic Club of Indiana.

The economic club announced Friday that Bernanke will speak during an Oct. 1 luncheon at the Indiana Convention Center. His speech will come in the midst of a presidential campaign during which the country's ongoing economic troubles will be a top issue.

Bernanke was first appointed to lead the Federal Reserve in 2006 by President George W. Bush. He was reappointed in 2010 by President Barack Obama.

Other speakers scheduled for the club's 2012-13 luncheon series include former U.S. Education Secretary Margaret Spellings and Glenn Hubbard, an economic adviser for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney who was the top White House economist for President George W. Bush.
