As an alumna of ISU, I’m disappointed to hear about this. I was near the top of my high school class and chose ISU because of an academic scholarship that covered the bulk of my tuition and fees. I was also aware when I was in school, however, that ISU also accepted students who couldn’t get accepted to other 4-year colleges, and had programs to help those students become successful in college. They had a nearly open admissions policy. That changed over the years, though, and ISU has become “more selective” about the students they accept, to the point of declining a C student with a 32 ACT. This no doubt had an impact upon enrollment. Admissions needs to look long and hard at how they’re attracting applicants and what public they want to serve.
