Thies steps into the position Oct. 1 and succeeds Maury Plambeck, who will lead a program directing the next RebuildIndy investments into city neighborhoods.
Thies founded the Eden Collaborative consultancy in 2004. His experience includes urban design and landscape architecture, in addition to redevelopment and neighborhood planning. (Read IBJ's 2011 profile of the firm.)
He has led several planning and design projects, including planning for the Super Bowl 2012 Legacy Neighborhood Project on the city’s east side.
Before founding Eden, Thies served as a full-time faculty member at Ball State University’s College of Architecture and Planning.
