Daniel T. Shackle has been appointed administrator of Indianapolis Animal Care and Control, Mayor Greg Ballard announced Friday.

He begins his new duties Monday.

Shackle is an attorney who served as program manager of the nuisance abatement section of the Indianapolis Department of Code Enforcement.

The U.S. Army veteran and a Bronze Star recipient joined the city in 2010 after working for the Indiana Department of Revenue.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington and his law degree from the Oklahoma City School of Law.

Shackle takes over for Amber Myers, who submitted her resignation in late August. Her last day on the job is Friday.

Myers is engaged to Frank Straub, the city’s former public safety director, who was just hired as the new police chief for the city of Spokane, Wash.
