The seven-day moving average of new deaths remained at 19 per day, the health department said.
The department reported 2,023 more cases of COVID-19, up from 1,593 the previous day. The cumulative total rose to 1,003,647.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 decreased from 1,551 on Monday to 1,475 , their lowest number since Aug. 15. Hospitalizations reached a recent peak of 2,687 on Sept. 13. COVID patients occupy almost 19% of Indiana’s intensive care unit beds.
More than 3.3 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Wednesday at 5 a.m., after a daily increase of 2,852. More than 247,000 Hoosiers have already gotten vaccine boosters, after a daily increase of 5,690.
The health department said 59% of Indiana residents 18 and older are now fully vaccinated.
