What could go wrong? Seems ripe for another Reggie Walton situation.
How come there is no link to the Black Onyx study, although there is for the other sources in this article? Seems like if the city is committed to funding a new CDFI the study that was the basis should be publicly available.
Just more pandering at taxpayer expense.
Why pay a staff? Why not contract with an organization that already successfully manages a CDFI?
STR – Wow! Such negative comments above….so sad. There are plenty of talented and skilled people with the experience of state, local and federal gov’t experience here in Indianapolis, so a national search is not necessary. Stop looking for the person to fill the image with titles, degrees and a bunch of letters after their name who does not understand the community they are serving, by once walking in their shoes. Forming a realistic plan is key to the success of this program along with providing proper training, mentoring and commitment from all stakeholders. Let’s not do this to check off another box, but to truly make a difference so it may be paid forward in the future.
