Disheartening response

Thank you for the [Oct. 8 Morris column] on the Senate race. Some important issues seem to be swept under the rug in this important race. Sen. Richard Lugar’s response to his loss has been most disheartening. The senator refuses to endorse Mourdock and yet he endorses Scott Brown of Massachusetts. Lugar has proven just the point many voters made in rushing him out the door: Lugar had gotten to the point of doing what was best for Richard Lugar and his ego and not doing what is best for the voters in Indiana. The fact that many Republicans would consider not voting, or voting for Donnelly, because of what they deem to be this injustice to Lugar is even more disheartening.

The fact is, as Morris alludes to, that a Sen. Donnelly would provide another strong supporter in the Senate for a second Obama term. Donnelly was one of the deciding votes on Obamacare, a law still unsupported by the majority of Americans.

I am a senior citizen. I am deathly afraid of the effects of Obamacare on my life expectancy. My mother-in-law told me recently that her Medicare Advantage Plan has been canceled. Why? Because of Obamacare’s stripping $716 billion from Medicare—which the Obama forces still maintain is untrue.

This is but one issue where a Sen. Donnelly will not support what most Republicans and what most Hoosiers believe in. Mourdock is a good man and a decent man and he will do what is right for the country and for the voters in Indiana. To not vote at all or not vote for him because you are pouting about a Lugar who no longer represented the majority of us is unconscionable.
