Republicans will keep control of both houses in the Indiana General Assembly although it wasn't certain late Tuesday whether they'll win the supermajority needed to thwart boycott threats from House Democrats.

Republicans won four House seats from Democrats on Tuesday, ousting Reps. Peggy Welch of Bloomington and Phil Pflum of Richmond and capturing two seats given up by retiring Democrats.

Democrats won an open Indianapolis seat previously held by a Republican and held narrow leads over Republican Reps. Bruce Borders of Jasonville and Cindy Noe of Indianapolis.

Republicans are looking to pick up seven seats and gain a two-thirds majority so they can conduct business even if Democrats repeat the walkouts they've held the past two years over the right-to-work labor law.

Republicans maintained the supermajority they already held in the state Senate.
