The 24-page report outlines the economic benefits of Indiana’s airports and includes specific details on how each airport contributes to its local economy.
“These study results paint a clear picture of the value of Indiana’s airports not only to residents who rely on air travel for business and pleasure, but to the thousands of businesses that rely on airport services to move people and products," said Bart Giesler, executive director of the Aviation Association of Indiana, in a prepared statement.
Additional study results show that Indiana airports serve the transportation needs of more than 6.5 million Hoosiers, and businesses that use state airports account for a total payroll of $4.1 billion.
Indianapolis International Airport is responsible for about 30 percent of the roughly 69,000 jobs the airports support, the study said.
