Letter: Don’t fret masks; worry about teachers

In reference to Todd Rokita’s lawsuit [AG Rokita sues Biden administration over preschool masks, vaccine mandates, IBJ.com, Dec. 21], mask mandates won’t matter if the classrooms don’t have teachers and schools don’t have support staff.

It’s sad to see the focus on suing the feds when the reality is that if our state government doesn’t start doing something to support our teachers and schools and improve school financials—as well as change the attitudes and perceptions—then we are going to have a crisis due to lack of teachers and appropriate funding for bus drivers, substitute teachers and other school staff.
