Two companies informed the state today that their closings collectively will leave 321 people out of work, while another, HHGregg Inc., said it will cut 51 jobs by outsourcing its delivery operations.

Indianapolis-based telemarketer TeleServices Direct Inc. will slash 279 positions, including 247 sales representatives, and close its call center in Lafayette by April 4.

California-based Pelco Inc., a manufacturer of video and security systems, will eliminate 42 positions by March 31 and close its plant on Crosspoint Boulevard on the northeast side.

HHGregg, meanwhile, will close its distribution center on East 96th Street, resulting in 27 delivery drivers and 24 helpers losing their jobs April 6. The action is due to the company’s decision to outsource delivery duties, HHGregg said.

The Indianapolis electronics and appliance retailer announced fiscal third quarter earnings this morning. It reported profit of $17.1 million – a 13-percent improvement from the prior-year period.
